Matterfund
Matterfund is the first social-intelligence platform for education development. Launched at Davos in 2017, the platform aims to turn on the lights for actors working towards quality education for all.

Matterfund emerged from the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum, offering a digital tool to support smarter decisions in education development. We scanned the current environment, interviewed countless education actors and took the best practices from thoughtful technological innovators. Alongside our partners at Hakeema, we built a connective graph. That makes it easier to see who supports what – which funders support which NGOs, which government players are connected to which initiatives. Promising work, no matter how big, can rise to the surface of the graph. We wanted to make it easier for people to find what works in education, connect, collaborate and track their impact over time.
That graph mapped the funding ecosystem of South Africa as well as the work and innovators of WISE. We’ve partnered with Summa, leveraging our tools to better support Latin America and the Caribbean education research community.
In 2020, we merged with Results for Development and the Center for Education Innovations to ensure that this resource could best serve the global education community.
